Skinny fat.

Thin in a shirt, soft without it. Low muscle and stubborn fat at the same time. If that is you, this page is for you.

What skinny fat means

Skinny fat is not a diagnosis. It is the word people use for themselves when the scale says normal and the mirror says soft. Thin arms and legs, a soft middle, and little muscle to show for a normal weight.

It is common in adults who sit most of the day, eat at odd hours and have not lifted weights for years, or ever. Body fat is higher than the frame suggests because there is not much muscle underneath it. None of this is a character flaw, and none of it is permanent.

Why a bulk and a cut both fail

Most fitness advice is written for people who already have muscle. It sells seasons: bulk for months, cut for weeks, post the photo.

A bulk means eating well above maintenance and accepting fat gain to build muscle faster. On a body that already carries more fat than muscle, the new fat lands on top of the old. A cut then means eating well below maintenance to strip it off, and a body with little muscle loses some of the little it has. Each season ends close to where it started, with a worse relationship to food and a scale that never told the whole story.

What works

Three habits, kept for a long time.

  • Train. Lift weights a few times a week and try to do slightly more than last time: one more rep, then a little more weight. This is the signal that tells the body to keep muscle and build it.
  • Eat. Enough protein every day, and calories a little below what you burn on most days. Not a crash. A deficit small enough to keep for months.
  • Rest. Sleep like it matters, walk more, and measure the body instead of judging it in the mirror. A tape and a weekly trend say more than any single morning.

The result is a body that is stronger and leaner at roughly the same weight. That is body recomposition, and it is slower than a bulk or a cut. Slow is the point. A result you can hold is the only one worth having.

What Perdura does today

Perdura was built by one of you, for this body and this life. Here is what it does today, in plain words.

  • Train. Log every set. Perdura reads them against the rep range of each lift and gives one instruction for next session: add weight, add reps or reduce load. At the gym, a set-by-set screen shows last time, today's target and a rest timer. Free.
  • Eat. Log the day's calories and macros. Perdura sets the targets from your phase and whether it is a training day, and shows whether protein landed. Premium.
  • Rest. The weight trend, a seven-day average, is free. Tape measurements and body scans come with Premium, with scans charted against your first one. Perdura does not track sleep or steps.

Your dashboard also keeps a weekly record: which weeks you logged every planned session. No streaks, and nothing resets.

Training logs, the verdicts and the weight trend are free. No card.
